The Breckenridge Bucks: A sparkling New Year with wins on the ice and in the concession stand

What better way to ring in 2016 with the Breckenridge Bucks than with a two-game home series filled with sparkling hockey, sparking wine in a can from The Infinite Monkey Theorem, and sparkling figure skater Jamie Ann Chandler – not to mention a foot race around the perimeter of the ice with four somewhat sparkling Muppets?!

The Breckenridge Bucks faced the Pikes Peak Miners in the Bucks’ sixth home game series at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena, December 31, 2015-January 1, 2016. They split the series, losing a close game on New Year’s Eve but winning on New Year’s Day in a thrilling shootout.

An appreciative crowd dined on gumbo and jambalaya from The Lost Cajun, pulled pork sliders and beef chili from Whole Foods Market, beer from Breckenridge Brewery, and canned wine from The Infinite Monkey Theorem, an urban winery in Denver.

Downstairs at Eric’s donated cheese and pepperoni pizzas. Medium and dark roast from Mug Shot Café kept hockey fans caffeinated and warm.

Team sponsor Breckenridge Brewery had Trademark Pale Ale on tap. All four canned wines were available from The Infinite Monkey Theorem. Their light carbonation added a festive air to the evening. The canned Red Wine and White Wine sold out quickly, with fans reaching for the Merlot and citrusy White wines. The Rosé offered a burst of strawberries and raspberries, while the Moscato appealed to those whose palate favored residual sugar.
